I started my freelance writing career one year ago after 18 years of teaching writing to public school students. Authentic learning sprouts from doing! Being a better writer than I’ve ever been in my life is no longer enough. Being able to work faster, to come up with more creative concepts is no longer enough. Being more than a writer, i.e., an idea person who can conceive a brand voice, is no longer enough. I have to have more than a passing appreciation of digital marketing. I must wrap my English-major brain around search-engine-optimized writing and make it mine.
