Good question. I think Google is smart enough now to understand the theme of a page (especially a well-written one) without having to resort to hints. Plus, from the writing perspective, it may be hard to start/end a paragraph with the same keyword. Sounds like this is one SEO writing tip you can safely let go of. :)
