I mean, if there’s a strategy in place, planning will come naturally. Publishing random pointless posts won’t get a blog so far. The reach will surely be poor.

On the other hand having a content plan and publishing themed, targeted content in a consistent manner will help build a strong readership and customer base.

And I’m totally against publishing everyday, except if it is a blog that reports news. If a blogger can write everyday, he/she should spread the content for the coming weeks/months rather than publishing them immediately. Publishing every day won’t give enough room for promotion!

Wouldn’t be the first time I came home from a restaurant with napkins full of ideas stuffed in my pockets lol On a side note: There’s a company out there that makes waterproof notepads for the shower. I think the idea will catch on among us creative types.

So I still find MS Word and a good folder organisation the best solution overall.

However, my office is still littered with paper notes everywhere. As I much prefer desktop applications to web-based ones, I reckon Evernote could well be the answer to this problem.

I am a huge user of Trello.com. What I’ve done is hook an IFTTT service to it. Then, each time I get a new idea, I add a card to my “idea board”, which triggers the IFTTT and creates a New Google Doc with the idea as the title. this way, it’s all set up for me and ready to go. (I add them to my spreadsheet at the end of each day.)

Have also been testing Evernote for ideas. Not sure which concept I like best yet, but as long as I get the idea written down somewhere, I’m happy. Nothing I hate more than scrambling to write a last-minute blog post or something and having no idea what to write about.

If you have an idea for a future blog post then, yep, make a note of it as soon as you possibly can.

I’m trying to train my brain to recognise ideas for blog posts in everything I do: when I’m reading up on stuff, finding solutions to problems, writing content for clients or just plain thinking.
